Mountain Meadows, a play by Deborah Threedy, is coming to the Entrada Institute. The play was produced in Salt Lake City by Pygmalion Productions and played to sold out houses and critical regard.
The original cast will perform a staged reading on Saturday, July 15, 7 pm, at Robbers Roost in Torrey.
The play weaves together two stories connected by the Mountain Meadows Massacre, a shameful episode in American history. in the mid-19th century, more than 120 California-bound settlers were attacked and slaughtered by a Latter-day Saint militia. Only the babies were left alive; all the men, women and children in the party were killed. They blamed it on Native Americans.
