Pleasant Creek Rock Art Panels

Pleasant Creek flows through the southern region of Capitol Reef National Park, in the canyon, there are two prehistoric rock art sites.After a bit of a walk (less than a mile), the two sites are roughly opposite of each other on either side of the stream. On one side is a panel of weathered painted Barrier Canyon style figures.On the opposite side is a large pecked site with a great number of images, mostly Fremont in style. But it also includes some BCS and Mixed Style figures. There appears to be considerable time-depth, particularly in the main panel of this site.

Binoculars are useful.

Short day trip from Torrey with one or two hours at the sites.
